It’s no empty boast when Tony Lazzaro says everybody in Auburn knows him. Certainly, anybody who has been involved in property over the past 40 years would have crossed paths with a man who has been in the front row of Auburn’s transformation into a property hot spot and growth area.

Tony began his real estate career in the eastern suburbs, selling property in Bondi Junction as it underwent a building boom generated by construction of the eastern suburbs railway line. His next move saw him join McDonald Industries as a property buyer before taking on management of two Auburn agencies, finally establishing his own franchise, R&W Auburn in the 90s.

He introduced residential auctions to Auburn, at the time a common method of selling in the eastern suburbs, but unheard of in Auburn. While he assembled a top-performing sales team, Tony kept his hand in the commercial sector, leveraging the opportunities that came with Auburn’s rapid population growth which saw it ranked as the fourth fastest growing suburb in Sydney in the decade to 2017.

Having arrived in Sydney from Italy as a seven-year-old with his parents in the ‘50s, Tony was always attuned to the benefits of being able to communicate in a home language. With its strong migrant population, Tony assembled a sales and management team that reflected the diversity of the Auburn community, with fluency in multiple languages.

Tony’s success in real estate has been recognised with many awards and his record of putting up 21 auctions in a single day and 19 selling under the hammer, is still talked about to this day.
